About this scholarship
What you get
You will receive a scholarship from the Svenska Industrins IP Förening (SIPF), the association of intellectual property professionals in Swedish industry. This scholarship is intended to support your studies in the field of industrial property law – that is, the law governing patents, trade marks and design rights. There is no fixed amount. You state in your application how much money you need, and the SIPF will decide on the amount. In return, once you have completed your studies, you will present your work at one of the SIPF’s events. You will also make the full text of your work available in electronic form so that SIPF members can use it freely.
Who can apply
- Your project: You are conducting a study on the industrial property rights system (patents, trade marks, design rights).
- Relevance: Your degree must be of benefit to Swedish industry.
- Field of study: Your work sits in intellectual property law.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Where you study: Any university will do.
How to apply
There is no specific form or deadline, so you can apply at any time of the year. Please send an email to the association’s secretary, outlining your study plans and stating how much money you require. You may include further information about yourself and your work. You will receive a decision within two months.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding scheme is very narrowly defined: your research must focus on the protection of industrial property and be of benefit to Swedish industry, meaning that very few applicants compete for this funding. If your project clearly fits within this focus area, your chances are good, especially as you can apply at any time and determine the amount of funding yourself. The key here is to submit an application that clearly sets out the benefits for Swedish industry.
