Sverker och Birgittas stipendiefond (KMH)

You can apply for a grant of 100,000 SEK to 500,000 SEK (about 8,800 to 44,000 EUR) to fund your artistic development. The money can pay for large artistic projects, buying an instrument, further studies, tours or concert series. It comes from a fund set up in 2021 by entrepreneur Sverker Lerheden and his wife Birgitta Sintring to support art and music education. Each year 1,000,000 SEK (about 88,000 EUR) is shared among students of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH).

Who can apply

• Where you study: You study at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH).
• Study phase: You are in the final year of a KMH degree programme. You can also apply if you are on the advanced course in interpretation or the supplementary teacher-training course, as long as you already hold an earlier degree from KMH.
• Talent: You have stood out artistically and can show how the grant will develop your skills.
• Field of study: Any music field taught at KMH.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you study at KMH.

How to apply

You apply on your own through an online form, though your project can involve several people. Your application needs a worked-out budget, a CV, and a description of how the grant will support your artistic development. The deadline for the 2027 round is 25 September 2026 at 23:59. Judging happens in two steps: first an internal review by KMH's departments, then a jury. If you reach round two, you are asked to send sound samples. Notification comes in mid-October, with a final decision in early 2027.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is narrow: only final-year students, or certain graduates, at a single college can apply, so the pool is small. If you clearly fit these conditions and present a strong artistic case with a solid budget, your prospects are good. Because each grant is large, the jury looks for a convincing, well-planned project, not just talent on paper.
