C F Liljevalch J:ors travel grant

You get a travel grant to fund a research trip abroad or in Sweden. For 2026 a total pot of 225,000 SEK (about 20,000 EUR) was shared among several recipients. Your individual amount depends on your trip and how many people are funded. The grant runs for one year from the rector's decision, which comes around the start of May, and you must make your trip within that year. Stockholm University's Faculty of Science awards it to PhD students in the natural sciences.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a PhD student in the natural sciences.
• University: You study at Stockholm University and have done so for at least two semesters before the current one.
• Age: You are under 35 when the application deadline passes.
• What counts most: Strong scientific ability and a clear, worthwhile purpose for your trip.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you meet the study requirement at Stockholm University.

How to apply

You apply once a year through the online portal (minastipendier.se), logging in with your university account. Attach a short CV of at most one A4 page listing your relevant scientific publications. The application window is 20 January to 15 February 2027. Your department comments first, the faculty's review body then assesses your application, and the rector decides in May. Everyone gets the result by email.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut narrowly: you must be a PhD student in the natural sciences at Stockholm University, under 35, with a solid research trip to fund. That keeps the eligible group small. If you clearly fit those conditions and can explain why the trip matters for your research, your prospects are good, especially since the pot is split among several recipients rather than a single winner.
