About this scholarship
What the Research Innovation Award gives you
You will be offered a fully-funded PhD place at Cardiff Metropolitan University in Wales for 3 years. The funding covers your full PhD tuition fees. You will also receive an annual living allowance (a grant to help cover your living costs). Together, these benefits amount to approximately 16,400 EUR per year, based on the minimum rate set by the UK research councils. The costs will be covered by the university, and your PhD programme will begin in October.
Who can apply
- Level: You would like to do a PhD (complete a research doctorate) and do not wish to undertake a teaching programme.
- Field of study: Any subject area. Every year, the university advertises specific PhD projects, and you apply for one of these projects.
- Where you study: You are studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University in Cardiff, United Kingdom.
- Fee coverage: The exemption from tuition fees applies to students from Germany or the EU. Please check your fee status before applying.
- Qualification: You hold an excellent university degree and can demonstrate that you are ready to undertake a PhD.
How to apply
Please complete the application form for your chosen PhD project. Please submit it to the University’s Research Funding Office by 22 August. Your studies will then begin the following October.
How realistic are your chances?
Each scholarship is linked to a specific PhD project, and only a few are advertised each year. You are therefore in direct competition with other applicants who are aiming for exactly the same project. As the subject area is narrowly defined and the funding covers a full three-year PhD programme, a strong candidate whose background is well suited to the project stands a real chance. Apply early and tailor your application profile to the project on offer.
