About this award / prize

Benefit

You will receive a one-off award of academic prize as the top student in the final year of the Bachelor’s degree programme (B.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham in the UK. This recognises your overall academic achievement, with particular emphasis placed on your final-year project. The Department of Mechanical Engineering awards this prize every year, usually in July at the end of the academic year. The amount of the prize money is not disclosed.

Eligibility

  • University: You’re studying at the University of Birmingham.
  • Field of study: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Study phase: You are in the final year of your Bachelor’s degree.
  • Grades: You achieved the best marks in your year group, including an outstanding result in the design project.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You do not need to apply. The department automatically awards the prize to the best student in their final year of the Mechanical Engineering degree programme.

How realistic are your chances?

As this is an achievement award for a cohort within a department, it is not possible to apply for it or to plan your studies with a view to winning it. It is awarded to the student with the best final marks. The decisive factors are the marks achieved throughout the course of study and, in particular, those in the design project. Only through consistently outstanding performance can a student be selected.
