About this scholarship
MC Science Scholarship (University of Bath)
For each academic year of your Bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Bath in England, you will receive about 3,500 EUR per year (£3,000). These funds are used to top up the financial support provided to students from low-income households. The funds come from a donation by Mary Cutbill. Years spent on work placements are not eligible for funding.
Who can apply
- Degree: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Bath.
- Placement year: Your degree programme includes a year of work experience, i.e. a year of practical work in industry.
- Field of study: Sciences such as biology, chemistry, computer science and other natural sciences.
- Enrolment: You are studying full-time on campus.
- Nationality: You are a student from the UK.
- Financial need: Your calculated household income is at or below £42,611.
- Grades: You must have achieved final grades of at least AAB at A-level or an equivalent qualification.
- No other award: You are not currently receiving any other scholarship or study grant from the University of Bath.
How to apply
There is no separate application form. The university will automatically consider your application on the basis of your household income, your grades and other criteria. If you are shortlisted, the university will ask you – usually in the spring – to provide a brief statement of reasons.
How realistic are your chances?
The selection criteria for this scholarship are very specific. You must be a British undergraduate student studying a science degree at this particular university, undertaking a course that includes a work placement, come from a low-income household and have very good A-level grades. This means that the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet all these requirements, your chances are good, as the university will automatically consider you rather than as part of a large open application process.
