University of Birmingham - TI Group PG Scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off cash award of about 5,900 EUR (£5,000) for a one-year Master’s degree programme in engineering at the University of Birmingham, starting in September 2026. The payment will be made in two instalments of £2,500 each: one in October 2026 and one in May 2027. The University of Birmingham funds this award using funds from the TI Group; two students receive this award each year.

Who can apply

• Degree: You will be starting a one-year, teaching-based Master’s programme (MSc). This Master’s programme is based on lectures and coursework and does not include a research dissertation.
• Field of study: For engineering subjects only. Your degree programme must be based in the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering or the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Science.
• University: You are studying at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
• Offer: You have already been offered a place on one of these Master’s programmes.
• Nationality: Anyone can apply, including students from the UK, the EU and non-EU countries.
• Financial need: This is the main criterion. You must demonstrate that, otherwise, you would have difficulty funding your studies.
• Grades: Good academic performance is the second criterion after financial need.

How to apply

You must apply online via the TI Group’s scholarship form by 12 July 2026, 23:59. Please provide detailed information about your financial situation, as financial need is the decisive factor in most cases. You will be notified of the result by the end of August 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

Only two scholarships are awarded each year, so the number is small. However, the pool of eligible applicants is also small: Master’s students in engineering at a specific university who can demonstrate a genuine financial need. If you meet the specific criteria and can demonstrate a genuine financial need, your chances are good. A convincing, well-documented account of your financial situation is more important here than simply having excellent grades.
