About this scholarship

Vice Chancellor & Principal's Scholarship

This was a full scholarship at University College Birmingham (UCB) in the United Kingdom. It paid all your UCB tuition fees and accommodation costs for the whole course. UCB gave out five of these each academic year, and only to international students recommended by one of its partner universities abroad.

Who could apply

  • Recommendation: A recognised international partner university of UCB had to put you forward. You could not apply on your own.
  • Course: You had accepted a place on a full-time taught course at UCB. It had to last at least one year and lead to a higher education qualification.
  • Where you study: University College Birmingham in the UK.
  • Nationality: Open to international students of any nationality.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Grades: You had outstanding academic results.
  • First time at UCB: You had not already started that course, not held a UCB scholarship before, and (if joining the final year of a bachelor's) not done an FdA foundation degree at UCB in the same subject.
  • Visa: You needed a UK study visa. If it was refused, you lost the scholarship.

How to apply

You sent UCB's scholarship application form with proof of your grades and a recommendation letter from your partner university. The deadline was 31 August for a first-semester start (around late September) and 31 December for a second-semester start (around late January).
