Economics Department scholarship (University of Oxford)

You will receive a one-off grant of up to £15,000 (about 17,250 EUR) for the ‘MSc in Economics for Development’ master’s programme at the University of Oxford. This is a full-time master’s programme lasting 9 months. The funding is provided by the Department of Economics at the University of Oxford and the Oxford Department of International Development (ODID). It is intended to cover your tuition fees and living costs whilst you are studying.

Who can apply

• Degree offer: You have been offered a place on the ‘Economics for Development’ Master’s programme at the University of Oxford.
• Field of study: This is the only Master’s programme in Development Economics that is worth considering.
• Where you study: You are studying at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply; there are no restrictions on place of residence.
• Grades: Selection is based solely on academic achievement, so you will need to have excellent results.

How to apply

There is no separate application process. All applicants who apply for the MSc programme by the application deadline will automatically be considered. The application deadline is on 26 January at 12:00 midday UK time. Decisions are usually sent out by email in late May or early June.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is linked to one of the highly sought-after Master’s programmes at Oxford, so your first hurdle is to secure a place on the course. Once you have been offered a place, selection depends solely on your academic performance, and only a small number of scholarships are awarded by each department each year. If your grades are among the best of those admitted, you have a genuine chance, but you must be prepared for stiff competition.
