About this scholarship
Bentham Club Scholarship
You will receive a one-off payment of about 1,150 EUR (£1,000) to cover your living costs whilst studying law at University College London (UCL). This is a one-off payment, not a monthly scholarship. The funds come from the Bentham Association, the alumni network of former UCL law students, which provides this grant to support current law students.
Who can apply
- Course: You are studying on the LLB programme, the Bachelor’s degree programme in Law at UCL.
- Year of study: You are in your 2, 3 or 4 year.
- Grades: You’re doing well at school.
- Community: You have taken part in student life at the UCL Faculty of Law, for example through student activities or events.
- Financial need: You need financial support to fund your studies.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled on the LLB programme at UCL.
How to apply
Please email a personal statement to the UCL Laws Undergraduate Office. In it, explain how you meet the criteria and why you deserve the award. A selection panel will then assess the shortlisted candidates and make the final decision.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding scheme is highly selective: only law students in their 2th to 4th year of study at a specific university are eligible to apply, meaning that the pool of applicants is small compared to open scholarships. If, in addition to good grades and a genuine commitment to the faculty, you can also demonstrate a clear financial need, your chances are good. The application deadline is once per academic year, so keep an eye on the page to ensure you don’t miss the next application window.
