About this scholarship
Benefit
This scholarship paid your full tuition fees plus a yearly living grant of about 18,900 EUR (15,863 GBP, 2014/15 rate). It covered the one-year MRes 'Modelling Biological Complexity' at University College London. An MRes is a research-focused master's. Five places were offered, funded as MRC Advanced Course Master's Studentships. The course mixes maths, physics and computing with biology. You take foundation courses, complete three mini-projects and an 11-week summer research project. It starts in September.
Eligibility
- Degree: You have a good 2:1 or a First Class degree, or an equivalent EU/overseas qualification.
- Field of study: Your degree is in maths, physics, computing, engineering or the life sciences.
- Maths skills: If your background is in the life sciences, you also need maths knowledge, for example at A-level or higher.
- Nationality: Open to UK candidates only.
- Where you study: You study at University College London in the UK.
How to apply
There was no separate scholarship application. You applied for a place on the MRes with a personal statement, your academic transcripts and two academic references. References from postdoctoral researchers were not accepted. Everyone who applied for admission was automatically considered for the studentships.
