UWE Bristol Alumni Scholarship

You will be awarded a 20% discount on your tuition fees if you have already obtained a degree from UWE Bristol and are returning to undertake a postgraduate taught programme – whether full-time or part-time. A ‘taught programme’ at postgraduate level refers to a Master’s or similar programme based on lectures and coursework, but not a research programme. The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) offers this discount to its former students. If, instead, you are undertaking a research-based programme (PhD, DPhil, MPhil or part-time doctorate), you will receive 20% on the first year of full-time study or on the first two years of part-time study.

Who can apply

• Past study: You have completed a degree programme at UWE Bristol (Foundation programme, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree), including a programme undertaken at a UWE partner university in the United Kingdom or abroad. Courses that earn credits also count: a CPD course worth at least 60 credits, a certificate or diploma from UWE or a partner university, a study abroad programme, an Erasmus exchange or a summer school.
• Higher level: Your new degree programme must be at a higher level than the one you previously completed. A Master’s degree following a postgraduate diploma counts; a second postgraduate diploma, however, does not.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
• Field of study: Applies to most postgraduate programmes, although a few are excluded. The discount does not apply to modules retaken, integrated continuing professional development courses or dual study programmes.

How to apply

No separate application is required. Simply state your UWE Bristol student number on your application for the postgraduate programme. The discount will be applied automatically once your eligibility has been confirmed.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an automatic discount and not a competition, so there is neither a selection process nor a set number of participants. If you have completed an eligible degree programme at UWE Bristol and are progressing to a further, lecture-based postgraduate programme that is not on the exclusion list, you will receive the 20% discount. Please check the exclusion list for your specific course before making any plans.
