About this scholarship
What the Civil Engineering Excellence Scholarship gives you
You will receive 1,000 GBP per year (approximately 1,160 EUR) for your civil engineering degree at Newcastle University in the UK. The total amount you receive depends on your degree programme. MEng students receive the grant over four years (a total of 4,000 GBP). BEng students receive the grant over three years (a total of 3,000 GBP). The money is paid out in January each year and comes directly from the university’s Faculty of Engineering. To continue receiving the funding after the first year, you must have achieved an annual average of at least 65% in the previous year.
Who can apply
- Degree: You are starting as a first-year undergraduate on a BEng or MEng degree programme in Civil Engineering at Newcastle University.
- Grades (MEng): At the start of your first year of study, you must have achieved at least A*AA at A-level.
- Grades (BEng): You must have achieved at least a grade of AAA in your A-levels by the start of your first year of study.
- Other qualifications: If you do not sit A-levels, an equivalent standard will apply. ‘General Studies’ at AS or A-level2 will not count towards your marks.
- Your university choice: You have accepted Newcastle as your ‘firm choice’ (CF or UF) on UCAS, i.e. as your confirmed first-choice place.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
No separate application is required. The scholarship is awarded automatically to all new students who meet the entry requirements and have listed Newcastle as their ‘firm choice’ on UCAS.
How realistic are your chances?
As there is no application process, your chances of being accepted depend entirely on your A-level results. If you achieve grades A*AA for the MEng or AAA for the BEng and list Newcastle as your first choice, you will be accepted. Please note: This scholarship information is taken from an archived 2016 page and can no longer be found on the university’s current funding pages. Please check that the scholarship is still available before relying on it.
