About this scholarship
Benefit
You get a one-off payment of up to about 3,450 EUR (up to £3,000) if an unexpected money problem hits you while you are studying at the University of East London (UEL). This is not a monthly grant. It is a single emergency payment, and the amount is set to fit your situation. The university runs it so that sudden financial trouble does not force students to drop out.
Eligibility
- Enrolment: You are currently enrolled as a UEL student. You cannot apply before you enrol.
- Study level: You study at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
- Financial need: You come from a low-income household.
- Emergency: You face a sudden money problem you did not plan for.
How to apply
You apply through the UEL student intranet, where the form and any deadline are posted. If you are unsure about your options, the Student Money Advice and Rights Team (SMART) advises on all funding questions, including this bursary.
How realistic are your chances?
This is a needs-based emergency fund, not a contest on grades. Your case rests on showing genuine, unexpected hardship and a low household income. If you clearly meet those conditions and can document them, your prospects are reasonable. Since it is open to all enrolled UEL students, apply as soon as trouble hits.
