Student Support Fund Grant

You receive a one-off grant of 250 GBP to 2,000 GBP (about 290 to 2,300 EUR) per academic year. It helps with essential living costs like rent, food and travel to university. The University of Bradford runs this fund as a safety net for students in financial difficulty. It is a grant, not a loan, so you do not pay it back. You cannot use it for tuition fees. If the calculated amount comes to less than 100 GBP, nothing is paid out.

Who can apply

• University: You are fully enrolled at the University of Bradford and attending your course in the 2026/27 academic year.
• Nationality: UK, EU and international students can all apply.
• Financial need: You are in genuine financial hardship and cannot cover essential costs any other way.
• Other funding first: If you are a UK student, you have already applied for all the government student funding you are entitled to, such as your student loan.
• A financial plan: You can show other income like loans, wages, savings, bursaries or family support. The fund tops up a shortfall. It will not cover a whole year on its own, and applications with no other plan in place are usually rejected.
• EU and international students: You can apply only for an unexpected crisis or something outside your control, and only if you have no funds left for rent and food.

How to apply

The fund opens on Monday 19 October, when the application form appears on the university's funding webpage. You apply online and attach evidence of your income and finances, such as bank statements and your tenancy agreement. If you are in hardship before that date, you can contact the student life team for help.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award but a needs-based safety net. Your prospects depend on your evidence, not on other applicants. If you clearly show a shortfall between your income and essential costs, and have already claimed the funding you are entitled to, a payment is likely. If your finances cover your basic costs, or you have made no other plans, expect a rejection.
