About this grant / loan

What you get

This scheme is closed. It stopped taking new applications on 25 January 2019. The scheme involved a bank loan of about EUR 345 to EUR 11,500 (300 to 10,000 GBP). This enabled you to fund work-related training and further education, such as Master’s degree programmes, technical qualifications or specialist courses offered by private providers. The government’s ‘Education and Skills Funding Agency’ covered the interest during your studies and for one month afterwards. Repayments to the bank therefore only began once you had completed the course. This was not a student loan, and the repayments were not linked to your salary.

If you already have one of these loans, nothing will change. You will continue to make repayments to the bank as usual, plus interest, even if you have not yet completed your degree. Repayments begin one month after you finish your studies.

If you need funding now

As this scheme has been discontinued, you should look into other government funding options for postgraduate study instead. In England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, postgraduate loans are available through ‘Student Finance’, as well as other options listed on gov.uk. If you already have a loan, please contact the bank that administers it for assistance.
