About this scholarship
Business School MBA Scholarships
You will receive a reduction in tuition fees of approximately EUR 5,800 to EUR 11,500 (£5,000 to £10,000) for the full-time MBA at the University of Edinburgh Business School. The amount will not be paid out to you, but will be deducted directly from your tuition fees. This is not a single grant, but a series of scholarships funded by the university, the business community and former students. Each scholarship targets a different area of strength:
- Leadership (about EUR 11,500 / £10,000): years’ experience in management roles or the potential to fulfil such a role, as well as at least 7 years’ professional experience.
- Merit (about EUR 5,800 / £5,000): for outstanding academic achievement.
- Achievement (about EUR 8,600 / £7,500): for a demonstrable contribution to the improvement of a business, a social institution or a public organisation.
- Diversity (about EUR 5,800 / £5,000): to enrich cultural diversity and the range of perspectives within the class.
- EU Regional (about EUR 5,800 / £5,000): for applicants resident in the EU.
- LGBTQ+ (about EUR 11,500 / £10,000): for candidates who are committed to supporting the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in the business world.
You may only accept one scholarship from the University of Edinburgh. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be expected to act as an ambassador for the Business School from time to time.
Who can apply
- Programme: You have already been offered a place (conditional or unconditional) on the full-time MBA programme in Edinburgh. You cannot apply until you have been offered a place.
- Field of study: This applies exclusively to the MBA (Master of Business Administration).
- Nationality: Open to all nationalities. To be eligible for the EU Regional Prize, you must also be resident in the EU.
- Not already fully funded: You are not eligible to apply if you are fully sponsored by an employer or are already in receipt of a full scholarship.
- The Selection: scholarships are awarded on the basis of your academic achievements, your professional experience and the information you provide in the scholarship application form.
How to apply
Once you have received an offer of a place on the MBA programme, please apply for each scholarship separately via the online form. Each scholarship has its own application rounds with fixed deadlines. For example, the application deadline for the ‘Leadership Award’ scholarship is 27 February, 24 April and 26 June; decisions will be announced approximately one month later.
How realistic are your chances?
The pool of applicants is limited here: only those who have secured a place on the full-time MBA programme in Edinburgh are eligible to apply. As each award recognises a specific strength (leadership qualities, outstanding academic results, practical achievements or a diverse background), it is best to apply for the one that clearly matches your profile, rather than spreading yourself too thin. Applying in an early round is advantageous, as several application rounds are held throughout the year.
