About this scholarship
Franz Sondheimer Bursary Fund
You will receive a one-off grant of about EUR 2,340 (around £2,000) to undertake a research degree in chemistry at University College London (UCL). The grant is valid for one year. The scholarship is awarded by the Department of Chemistry at UCL and is named after Franz Sondheimer, an organic chemist who worked at UCL from 1956 to 1967.
Who can apply
- Degree: You are just starting an MPhil or PhD programme in chemistry, or are already undertaking one. Both are research-based degree programmes.
- University: You’re studying at University College London (UCL).
- Nationality: Open to all nationalities. Applicants from outside the UK will be given preference.
How to apply
Applications should be submitted via the Department of Chemistry at UCL. The application deadline is 1 May.
How realistic are your chances?
As this is a single, small scholarship linked to a specific department at a specific university, the pool of eligible applicants is limited: you must already be undertaking a research degree in chemistry at UCL. If you meet these criteria and are applying as an international student, your chances are quite good – but bear in mind that there is only one scholarship available.
