University College London - Jacobsen Scholarship in Philosophy

Benefit

For a one-year research programme in philosophy at University College London (UCL), you will receive approximately 11,000 EUR (~£9,500). You can use the money to cover your tuition fees or, alternatively, receive it as a scholarship (a contribution towards your living costs). This is one of the smaller scholarships offered by the Department of Philosophy at UCL, awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Eligibility

• Degree: You are applying to study philosophy at UCL degree:, either for the MPhil programme (Philosophical Studies) or the PhD programme (Philosophy).
• Field of study: Any area of philosophy is eligible. There is no restriction to a specific sub-field.
• Where you study: You are studying at University College London in the United Kingdom.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Grades: You have an outstanding academic record, as the award is based on merit.

How to apply

No separate application is required. Anyone admitted to a philosophy research programme at UCL will automatically be considered for the scholarship. Apply for admission to the MPhil or PhD programme by 9 January.

How realistic are your chances?

Only those who have been admitted to a research degree programme in Philosophy at UCL are eligible to win this prize, so the pool of eligible candidates is already small. The award is based solely on academic merit and requires no additional documentation; your real challenge, therefore, is to secure a place on the MPhil or PhD programme. If you are admitted on the strength of a compelling application, there are no additional costs associated with being considered for the award.
