About this scholarship

Robin and Nadine Wells Scholarship

For a one-year Master’s programme at University of Oxford, you will receive approximately 11,600 EUR (10,000 GBP). This money will help you cover your tuition fees and living costs. You will also be guaranteed a place in student accommodation at the standard rent for your first year. A scholarship is awarded to one student each year. It is funded by Robin Wells, a former student of St Cross College, and his wife Nadine.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You have been admitted to a one-year Master’s programme at the University of Oxford (for example, an MSt or MSc).
  • College: You have been admitted to St Cross’s College, not to any other college in Oxford.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Nationality: Any nationality.
  • Grades: You have an excellent academic record.
  • Financial need: You cannot receive financial support for your studies from any other source.

How to apply

You should apply in writing by email to the university. Please state that you wish to apply for the scholarship and provide evidence that your application for funding has been rejected elsewhere. The application deadline is in mid-June (around 19 June).

How realistic are your chances?

Only one student is awarded the scholarship each year, and you must already have been admitted via St Cross College to a one-year Master’s programme at Oxford. Whilst this means the pool of eligible applicants is small, the single place is highly competitive. The scholarship is aimed at students who receive no other financial support; therefore, the most important factors are proven evidence that you have been rejected by other universities, as well as very good grades. If you meet these requirements and can demonstrate your financial need, your prospects are good.
