What the Business and Law Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship gives you

You get a 20% discount on your tuition fees for a postgraduate taught master's course at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU). It is not a cash payment. The discount comes straight off your fees when you enrol, so you pay 20% less. It applies to courses starting in 2025/26 and 2026/27, whether you study full time, part time or by distance learning. The rate stays the same for your whole course: one year for a full-time MA or MSc, up to three years part time, and the same for a PG Diploma or PG Certificate. DMU offers it to help its own graduates come back for a second qualification.

Who can apply

• You are a DMU graduate: You completed a first degree at DMU Leicester or through one of DMU's overseas teaching partners.
• The course you take now: A postgraduate taught master's in the Faculty of Business and Law, for example an MSc in Accounting and Finance, an MBA (Global), an MA in Human Resource Management or an LLM in International Commercial Law. Undergraduate and research courses do not count. A few courses are excluded: Doctor of Business Administration, LLM Employment Law and Practice, and LLM Medical Law, Ethics and Practice.
• No earlier DMU master's: You have not already completed a postgraduate course at DMU.
• You pay your own fees: You fund your studies yourself. Being partly sponsored rules you out, but a government postgraduate student loan is fine.
• No debt to the university: You owe DMU no money.
• Nationality: UK, EU and international graduates can all apply.

How to apply

There is no separate application. If you meet the conditions, the 20% discount is added automatically when you enrol on an eligible course. If you also win another DMU scholarship, that one replaces this discount. Where you qualify for more than one, you get the most valuable.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award. It is a fixed discount for a clearly defined group, so there is no selection panel and no applicant pool to beat. If you graduated from DMU, start an eligible Business and Law master's, pay your own fees and owe the university nothing, you get it. Just check that your chosen course is not one of the few excluded ones.
