About this scholarship

Dulverton Scholarship at the University of Oxford

You will receive a full scholarship for a postgraduate programme at the University of Oxford. It will cover your tuition fees in full and also includes a living allowance of approximately 1,354 EUR per month for the entire duration of your studies. The funding is provided by the Dulverton Trust, a UK-based charity. The scholarship is aimed at students from Central and Eastern Europe and sub-Saharan Africa who wish to take on leadership roles in their home countries after graduating.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are already enrolled on, or have applied for, a full-time Master’s programme or a DPhil programme (doctoral programme) at the University of Oxford.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Where you live: You normally live in an eligible country in Central or Eastern Europe (such as Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland or Romania) or in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Grades: You have an excellent academic record or demonstrate significant potential.
  • Your plans: You intend to return to a management position in your home country once you have completed your studies.
  • Course level: Both Master’s and DPhil students are eligible for funding, although preference is given to Master’s applicants.
  • Study history: Preference will be given to applicants who have not yet studied in the UK or the US.

How to apply

There is no separate application process. You submit your application for a Master’s programme at Oxford by the relevant deadline in January, and all eligible applicants are automatically considered. Decisions are usually made by the end of May.

How realistic are your chances?

Only a handful of these scholarships are awarded each year, and they are open to outstanding applicants from many countries, so competition is very fierce. Your chances will be better if you meet the eligibility criteria exactly: excellent grades, a Master’s degree, no previous study in the UK or the US, and a genuine intention to return to your home country. Apply to the University of Oxford well in advance and ensure you meet the January application deadline, as this single application also serves as your application for the scholarship.
