About this scholarship

Fashion Matters MA Awards

For your Master’s dissertation at the London College of Fashion (LCF), which is part of the University of the Arts London, you will receive up to about 6,115 EUR (£5,000). The funding covers the actual project costs, such as materials, travel expenses, equipment or staff salaries, enabling you to create a more compelling final collection or research project. The funding is raised through the annual ‘Fashion Matters Gala’, an LCF fundraising event designed to raise money for student scholarships. Each year, two Master’s students are awarded a grant, selected on the basis of the quality of their project proposal.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are currently studying for a Master’s degree at the London College of Fashion.
  • Field of study: Every LCF master’s degree programme is recognised, including Design, Media, Business and Fashion Studies.
  • Your project: You are undertaking a final-year project or collection as part of your Master’s degree, which involves specific costs that this funding would help to cover.
  • Nationality: Open to applicants from the EU who are studying at the LCF.

How to apply

Applications are made via an online form. The LCF informs current students about the award by email and via their course tutors, and a PDF guide explains which documents need to be submitted. A panel then assesses the proposals against its criteria.

How realistic are your chances?

The prize is open exclusively to students who are already enrolled on a Master’s programme at LCF; you are therefore not competing against the general public. However, only two prizes are awarded each year across all these programmes, which makes the competition fierce. A clear, well-thought-out proposal that meets the jury’s criteria is the key to success. Make a particular effort to explain exactly what the money will be used for and why this is important.
