About this scholarship
Fife Scholarship
You will receive about 1,150 EUR per year (GBP 1,000) as a contribution towards your living expenses. This will be paid annually for the duration of your bachelor’s degree. The University of St Andrews in Scotland funds this scholarship to enable students from the Fife region who have grown up in low-income households to study there. Three of these scholarships are awarded each year.
Who can apply
- Where you went to school: You went to school in the Fife region of Scotland.
- Degree level: You are just starting your first bachelor’s degree. If you have already completed part of your degree, you cannot apply.
- Fee status: You are considered to be a student resident in Scotland.
- Field of study: Any topic is allowed.
- School type: Every school counts, whether state or private.
- Money you need: Selection is based on your household income, so you must provide evidence that you are in need of financial support.
How to apply
Please complete the online scholarship application form as soon as you have applied for a place at St Andrews. You do not need to wait for your offer of a place. The deadline is 31 March, and you will be notified of the result by the end of April.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is very narrowly defined: only school leavers from Fife who are starting their first degree and can demonstrate financial need are eligible, so the target group is small. Only three scholarships are awarded each year, but the strict criteria also ensure that the pool of applicants remains small. If you clearly meet the eligibility criteria regarding region, course of study and income, and apply before the deadline in March, your chances are good.
