About this scholarship
Dr Maud Tyler Final Year Care Leaver Scholarship
You get a one-off grant of about 7,000 EUR (6,000 GBP) for your final year at the University of Westminster in London. The money is a maintenance grant, so it goes towards living costs like rent, food, course materials and travel, not tuition fees. Six grants are awarded each year. The scholarship was set up by the family of Dr Maud Tyler, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university, in her memory.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled at the University of Westminster in London.
- Study level: You are in the final year of a bachelor's degree.
- Care background: You are a care leaver. This means you grew up in local authority care, for example in foster care, a care home or semi-independent living, rather than with your own family.
How to apply
You apply through the University of Westminster's Development Team, who can also tell you the current deadline.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is cut very narrowly: only final-year Westminster undergraduates who are care leavers qualify. That makes the eligible group small, so few people compete for it. If you clearly meet those conditions, your prospects are good, since six grants go to a limited pool each year. Contact the Development Team early to check the current round is running.
