What the Oxford-Radcliffe Graduate Scholarship gives you

You will receive a full scholarship. This will cover your tuition fees in full, and you will also receive a monthly allowance towards your living costs (scholarship) of approximately 1,441 EUR. The funding covers the standard duration of your studies, which, depending on your degree programme, is up to 4 years. For example, it covers approximately 3 years for a DPhil in Politics, 3.5 years for many PhDs in the natural sciences, and up to 4 years years for some structured PhD programmes. University College Oxford (‘Univ’) awards the scholarship in conjunction with the University; it is partly funded by a generous donation from former Univ students. Up to 13 of these scholarships are awarded each year.

Who can apply

• Level: You are applying for a postgraduate programme at the University of Oxford, either a Master’s degree or a PhD (DPhil), on a full-time basis.
• Field of study: Your field of study falls within the natural or social sciences. Eligible subject areas include earth sciences, theoretical physics, life sciences, chemistry, mathematics and statistics, medicine, neuroscience, oncology, as well as politics or international relations.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. There are no country restrictions.
• Grades: You have an outstanding academic record. The awards are given to the applicants with the best academic results.
• Financial need: Your financial circumstances will not be assessed. The aim is to support the best students, regardless of their financial situation.

How to apply

There is no separate application form for most of these scholarships. You simply apply for your Oxford degree programme by the relevant deadline in December or January, and your application will then be considered automatically. The selection process should be completed by the end of May. A small number of affiliated degree programmes have their own application process via the relevant academic department; please therefore check the page for your degree programme.

How realistic are your chances?

Oxford is extremely competitive, and this scholarship is awarded only to the best applicants in a specified range of subject areas, so the standards are high. Your chances will be better if your subject is one of the eligible natural sciences or humanities disciplines and your academic performance is truly outstanding. Make sure you apply by the deadline in December or January, as applications for Oxford scholarships submitted after this date will not be considered at all.
