About this scholarship
QMU Rest of UK Bursary Package
You will receive a cash grant of up to about EUR 2,300 (£2,000) per year, which will be paid out every year for the entire duration of your Bachelor’s degree. You will never have to repay this grant and can spend it as you wish: on rent, living costs or your tuition fees. The exact amount depends on your household income and is reduced according to a sliding scale: up to approximately 2,300 (£2,000) euros if your household income is up to £20,000,, and approximately 1,700 (£1,500) up to £25,000,, around 1,150 euros (£1,000) up to £35,000,, and around EUR 575 (£500) up to £42,600.. Above £42,600, you will receive nothing. Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh administers this grant so that financial considerations do not prevent you from studying.
Who can apply
- Level: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree (foundation stage).
- University: You are enrolled at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh or are applying to study there.
- Where you live: You are resident in England, Wales or Northern Ireland (the ‘rest of the United Kingdom’), not in Scotland.
- Field of study: All participants are eligible to take part.
- Income: Your household income is £42,600 per year or less. This is the figure for your remaining household income that the Student Loans Company has already calculated for your student loan.
How to apply
There is no separate application form. The amount of the grant is calculated automatically based on the household income data held by the Student Loans Company when you apply for your student loan, and is reviewed each academic year. For further information, please contact the QMU student finance adviser.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a means-tested grant. Any student who meets the income and residence criteria will receive it; there is therefore no need to convince a panel. If you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, are studying at QMU and your household income is £42,600 or below, you will receive the money automatically. The lower your household income, the higher the annual payment.
