About this scholarship

Reach Oxford Scholarship

You will receive a full scholarship scholarship to study for a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Oxford in the UK. It covers your tuition fees in full and provides you with an annual living allowance, which is adjusted each year in line with the cost of living in the UK. In addition, you will be reimbursed annually for the cost of a return flight home. The scholarship covers the entire duration of your studies, which is 3 or 4 years, depending on your degree programme. Oxford awards only around 2 to 3 of these scholarships each year.

Who can apply

  • Nationality: You are a national of a low-income country included on the OECD’s DAC list, such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ukraine or Zimbabwe. The list is long, so please check whether your country is included.
  • Level: This applies to your first bachelor’s degree and exclusively to first-year students who are just starting their studies.
  • Field of study: You can apply for any degree programme at Oxford, with the exception of Medicine.
  • Offer first: You have already been offered a place at Oxford. You cannot apply for the scholarship until then.
  • Grades: You have achieved excellent results at school.
  • Financial need: They are unable to fund their studies themselves.
  • Home country: You cannot complete your degree from home and plan to return to your home country once you have graduated.
  • Engagement: You are actively involved in your local community, for example through voluntary work. Applicants who have not yet completed a Bachelor’s degree will be given priority.

How to apply

First, apply for a place at Oxford via UCAS by 15 October of the year before your studies begin. Once you have received your offer, complete the University of Oxford’s undergraduate scholarship application form. The deadline is 4 February at 12 midday UK time. Scholarship recipients will be selected in April and notified of the result by the end of May.

How realistic are your chances?

This is one of the most sought-after scholarships of all. Oxford awards only 2 to 3 places each year, and you must first secure one of the coveted places at Oxford before you can even apply. Even applicants who meet all the criteria have only a slim chance of success. If you can demonstrate that you have been offered a place, have excellent grades, a proven financial need and a convincing commitment to social causes, you have a genuine chance. Nevertheless, you should regard it more as an ambitious goal than as something you can count on.
