About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive a one-off scholarship of about 4,600 EUR (£4,000), which will be paid in instalments to cover your living costs whilst you are studying for a Master’s degree in Operations Research at the University of Edinburgh. Operations Research involves using mathematics and data to make better decisions, for example in logistics planning or risk management. Only one scholarship is awarded each year, funded by a donation from Richard Davidson to the School of Mathematics. You may retain this in addition to any other funding you receive.
Eligibility
- Degree: You will be starting one of four full-time Master’s programmes: MSc Operational Research, or the same programme specialising in Computational Optimisation, Data Science or Risk.
- University: You’re studying at the University of Edinburgh.
- Nationality: You are from the UK or an EU country.
- Grades: The prize is awarded to the best candidate, who is selected solely on the basis of their academic achievements.
How to apply
Please download the application form from the programme page, complete it and email it to the contact address provided by 15 June. You will be notified of the result by the end of June. Selection will be based on the documents submitted; there will be no interview.
How realistic are your chances?
There is only one scholarship available, and only students from the United Kingdom or the EU who are commencing a specific Master’s programme in Operations Research in Edinburgh are eligible to apply. Whilst this means the pool of eligible candidates is small, the bar is set high as the sole place is awarded solely on the basis of academic merit. If you have an outstanding academic record and are clearly suited to one of the four programmes, you have a realistic chance of success.
