Dr. Alois Mock-Europe Foundation - Dr. Alois Mock Science Award for Projects Thematically Related to Europe

What you get

You will receive a one-off prize of 1,500 EUR for an academic paper on a European topic. The Dr Alois Mock European Foundation awards the prize in conjunction with the University of Continuing Education Krems (UWK). The prize recognises work that promotes the peaceful integration of Europe. The prize winners will be notified in writing and will receive the prize at an annual ceremony.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You are a student or a member of academic staff.
• Type of work: You have written a Master’s thesis, a doctoral thesis, a habilitation thesis or a similar academic paper. A habilitation is the postdoctoral qualification required in German-speaking countries to become a professor.
• Topic: Your work focuses on a European topic – for example, in the fields of political science, economics or another Europe-related discipline – and promotes European integration.
• Timing: You submitted your final thesis in the relevant calendar year. For the 2024 round, this means between 1 January and 31 December 2024.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Where you study: Any university is fine.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted by email to the University of Continuing Education Krems by 31 March. Please state the name of the prize (“Research Prize”), briefly explain your topic and how it aligns with the Foundation’s objectives, and name your academic supervisor. Please attach your thesis, any existing assessment reports where applicable, and your CV. An independent jury at the university will make the decision; its verdict is final.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an annual award covering a narrowly defined field: completed academic works on a European topic that were finalised in a specific year. As a result, the pool of applicants remains small. If your work clearly aligns with the European focus and you can demonstrate how it serves the Foundation’s objectives, your chances are good.
