About this scholarship
Webster Vienna New Student Scholarship
Depending on your grades and your financial situation, you will receive an annual tuition fee discount of 3,000 to 12,000 EUR. Each year, Webster Vienna Private University awards up to 20 of these scholarships to new Bachelor’s and Master’s students. The amount is based on three tiers. Bachelor’s students receive 4,000 EUR (Honours), 7,000 EUR (Merit) or 12,000 EUR (Distinction) annually. Master’s students receive 3,000 EUR, 5,000 EUR or 8,000 EUR. As this is a partial scholarship, it reduces your tuition fees but does not cover them in full. You can renew it for the entire duration of your studies, up to 4 years for a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years for a Master’s degree, provided you are studying full-time and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.0 in every semester.
Who can apply
- Admission first: You have already been admitted to a standard Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at Webster Vienna. Certificate courses and English preparatory programmes are not included.
- New student: You will be starting your degree programme in the coming autumn or spring semester.
- Grades: You have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on the American 4.0 scale. The GPA is the grade point average used in the US, and 3.0 is roughly equivalent to a solid 2. With a GPA of 3.5 or higher, you qualify for the highest grade (Distinction).
- English: You must have at least a B2 in English for the lower levels or a C1 for the ‘Distinction’ level.
- Financial need: You can prove that you need financial support to fund your studies.
- Field of study: Every degree programme at the university counts.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
Once you have been admitted, please request the online scholarship application form from the Admissions Office. You must submit your letter of admission, a short letter explaining your financial situation, official proof of income, and an essay of between 1,000 and 1,200 words on one of two specified topics. The deadline is 31 May at 13:00 CET for the autumn semester and 30 November at 13:00 CET for the spring semester.
How realistic are your chances?
As only up to 20 scholarships are awarded each year across all levels, competition for them is fierce, and you must already have been admitted to be eligible to apply. Good grades, demonstrable financial need and a well-written essay determine who receives the higher scholarship amounts. If you can easily meet the 3.0 GPA requirement and demonstrate a genuine financial need, you stand a good chance of success with an early, carefully prepared application.
