About this scholarship

Begabtenstipendium of the Society of Friends of the Vetmeduni Vienna

You will receive a one-off payment of 2,000 EUR for one year if you are among the top students on the Veterinary Medicine degree programme at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna. The Friends of Vetmeduni Vienna Association awards three of these scholarships each year to recognise outstanding academic achievement.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are studying on the Diploma programme in Veterinary Medicine (I 209 14U) at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna.
  • Study year: You are in your 4th year of study or later.
  • Timing: You have not taken more semesters than the degree programme officially permits.
  • Grades: You have achieved excellent results. Your marks will be converted into points: the highest mark counts as four, the next highest as three, and so on, each multiplied by the course’s ECTS credits. You need at least 180 points.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Please apply to the university by email by 31 October. Send a short application letter including your contact details and a full transcript of your academic results from VetmedOnline. The Society’s Executive Committee will then draw up a ranking of all applicants based on their marks and select the top three.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is highly selective. Only veterinary medicine students in their 4th year of study or above at a specific university are eligible to apply, and selection is based solely on academic merit. The three places go to the top students. If you are among the top students in your year group and are still within the standard period of study, your chances are good. If your results are in the middle of the pack, others are likely to be ahead of you in the rankings.
