About this grant / loan
Support for students at the University of Art and Industrial Design Linz
You will receive a one-off grant for a specific project, not a monthly grant (a regular payment over a longer period). The money is earmarked for a specific project: a study trip abroad, an exhibition, a conference, a performance, your bachelor’s, master’s, diploma or doctoral thesis, or a publication. There is no fixed amount. The amount depends on your project and its budget. For publications, up to 1,000 EUR is awarded. Funding is provided by the Friends of the University of Art and Applied Arts Linz, an association founded in 1991 to support the university and its students.
Who can apply
- University: You are studying at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz. Institutes and the university itself may also apply.
- Field of study: Every subject at the university.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Project: You have a specific artistic, academic or study-related project, such as an exhibition, a study trip, a final-year project or a publication.
- Proof of enrolment: Please attach a current study record.
How to apply
You must submit a formal application to the Funding Association, comprising the application form, a portfolio, a project description, a full breakdown of costs and a funding plan. The deadline depends on the amount you are applying for. For grants of up to 1,090 EUR, the deadline is 31 October (winter term) or 31 March (summer term). For higher amounts, the deadline is 15 October or 15 March. A working group reviews your cost breakdown and your funding plan and makes recommendations on who should receive funding. Decisions are made at meetings in November/December and April/May.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very specific: only students from a particular art college can apply, and only for a precisely defined project with a clear budget. As a result, the pool of applicants is small. If you are studying there and can submit a well-founded project description and a sound funding plan, your chances are good. The decision will take into account how much you are contributing yourself – so make sure you demonstrate what you are bringing to the project.
