What the Ida Pfeiffer Scholarship gives you

You do not pay your tuition fee at the University of Graz for the semester in which the majority of your stay abroad takes place. This is a fee waiver, not a cash payment. You organise and pay for the trip yourself: travel, accommodation and living costs. The grant is awarded by the International Office at the University of Graz. It is intended for self-organised stays at institutions that are not partner universities of the University of Graz within the framework of an existing exchange programme. Your stay can last between 2 weeks and 1 years. You can also use the grant to extend a previous stay (e.g. Erasmus+, iStudy or ISEP) in the same location, or to go abroad anyway after an application for funding for another self-organised stay has been rejected.

Who can apply

• University: You are a full-time student at the University of Graz.
• Where you go: You organise your stay abroad yourself at an institution of your choice. It does not have to be a partner university in Graz.
• Study progress: At the start of your period abroad (not at the time of application), you must have completed at least the first year of a degree programme in the subject relevant to your stay.
• Age: You are at least 19 years old.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the University of Graz.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the International Office at the University of Graz. Please ensure that you submit a complete set of documents, as incomplete applications will not be considered. The deadlines are 25 October for stays during the winter semester and 28 February for stays during the summer semester. The Office will inform you of the result directly.

How realistic are your chances?

As only students from Graz are eligible to apply, the pool of applicants is limited to a single university, and the scholarship fills a specific gap for those who organise their own study abroad placement. If you are studying in Graz, meet the requirements regarding academic progress and age, and can provide confirmation from your host institution, your chances are good. Submitting a complete application by the deadline is the decisive factor in whether your application will be considered at all.
