About this grant / loan

Emergency scholarship of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna

You will receive a one-off payment from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (Akademie der bildenden Künsten Wien) to help you through a short-term financial emergency. The Academy determines the exact amount on a case-by-case basis. This is a one-off bridging grant for a sudden emergency, not a regular monthly grant. It does not cover day-to-day living costs such as rent, energy bills or food.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are a full-time student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
  • Field of study: All students at the Academy are eligible to take part.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Emergency situation: You have found yourself in a sudden, unforeseeable financial emergency through no fault of your own.
  • No other help available: In your case, there is no state or local authority support, and you can provide credible evidence of your hardship.

How to apply

You can apply online via the Academy’s portal at any time of the year. You will need to submit an application form, your current certificate of enrolment, a scan of your academic transcript and a brief CV.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is strictly limited in scope. It is aimed exclusively at students enrolled at this particular university who find themselves in a genuine, unforeseen emergency that is not covered by state support. As a result, the number of eligible applicants remains small. If you can provide clear evidence of such an emergency, your chances are good. Bear in mind that this is a one-off bridging grant and not a form of long-term support.
