Friends of University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna - Talent scholarship

Talent scholarship of the Friends of Vetmeduni Vienna

A one-off 2,000 EUR is awarded to students studying veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna (Vetmeduni) who achieve outstanding grades. Every year, the Friends of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna awards 3 of these scholarships. The award is presented in person during an academic ceremony.

Who can apply

• Programme: You are enrolled on the Veterinary Medicine degree programme (Curriculum I 209 14U) at Vetmeduni Vienna.
• Study stage: You are in at least the 4th year of your degree programme.
• Timing: You are still within the standard period of study, i.e. the number of semesters for which your degree programme is officially intended.
• Grades: You have achieved excellent results, which have been assessed using a marks-based system. Each mark is used as a factor (the mark 1 counts as 4, the mark 2 counts as 3, and so on) and multiplied by the course’s ECTS credits. You need at least 180 points.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted by email by 31 October each year. Please send a short cover letter including your contact details and a full transcript of your academic results from VetmedOnline. The association’s executive committee will select the 3 applicants with the highest scores.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this grant are quite strict: you must be studying veterinary medicine at a specific university, be in your 4th year of study or above, and achieve a certain grade threshold. This means that the number of eligible applicants is small. Each year, only 3 scholarships are awarded to the applicants with the best results, so your academic performance is the deciding factor. If you are among the top students in your year group and apply by the deadline, your chances are good.
