About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive 600 EUR per month for one semester (4 months) or two semesters (9 months) at a university abroad. The scholarship is awarded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research. It supports study placements outside the Erasmus network, meaning you can also choose destinations not covered by the EU exchange programme.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at one of Austria’s six public art universities: the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, the Mozarteum University Salzburg, the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, the University of Art and Design Linz or the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
  • Field of study: Any art subject taught at these universities is eligible.
  • Study progress: You have completed at least 6 semesters at an Austrian arts university, or you already hold a diploma or bachelor's degree with distinction. You are no more than about 1 semester behind the standard length of your programme.
  • Grades: You have outstanding results.
  • Nationality: You are an Austrian citizen.
  • Age: At the time of your application, you are 35 years old or younger.
  • Destination: You are studying at a university in a country that does not take part in the Erasmus programme. This university has already admitted you, and an art teacher there has agreed to supervise you.
  • Credits: Your home university will recognise the courses you have taken abroad.
  • Other aid: You are not entitled to an Austrian student grant during the funding period.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the International Office at your respective art college. As each college sets its own deadlines, you should contact your International Office well in advance of your planned semester abroad.
