Federal Ministry for Education, the Arts and Culture (BMUKK) - Foreign Exchange Scholarships inclusive Studios in Krumau

What You Get

This residency gives you a studio at the Egon Schiele Art Centre in Český Krumlov (Krumau), Czech Republic — about 75 km north of Linz. The Province of Upper Austria covers the rent and running costs of the studio. On top of that, you receive a monthly grant of €500 to help with living and travel costs. The studios are large, bright, and tall-ceilinged, making them especially well suited to large-format work. Your living space is in the former brewery building of the Art Centre. Rooms are functionally furnished and include an internet connection.

The programme runs from June to September, with up to eight artists hosted per season. Art materials are not provided — you bring and pay for those yourself.

Who Can Apply

• Connection to Upper Austria: You were born in Upper Austria, or you have lived and worked there for at least five years.
• Professional artist: You are a practising artist in fine arts or music — students are not eligible.
• Mobility: The studios are not wheelchair accessible; some living and sleeping areas are only reachable via a steep staircase.

• Completed application form KGD-K/E-26 (available online via e-gov.ooe.gv.at)
• Artistic CV
• Description of your planned artistic project
• Reference materials (portfolio)

Your place only becomes confirmed once you have signed the house and studio rules.

Deadline

The submission window for 2027 runs from 1 January 2026 to 3 February 2027.
