About this scholarship
What you get
The State of Upper Austria funds a one- to two-month working stay at the Egon Schiele Art Centrum in Český Krumlov (Krumau), Czech Republic, about 75 km north of Linz. You receive EUR 500 per month toward living and travel costs. Studio rent and running costs are covered, so the space is free to you. The studio is large, bright and high-ceilinged, well suited to large-format work. Accommodation is in a converted former brewery building on the same site. You bring your own materials and arrange your own travel insurance. The grant arrives in two payments: one before you leave, and one after you return and submit a written project report plus digital documentation.
Who can apply
- Connection to Upper Austria: You were born there, or you have lived and worked there for at least five years.
- Career stage: You are a practising artist. Students cannot apply.
- Field: You work in fine arts, literature, or music and composition.
- Project: Your planned project should connect to working in this specific location. This is a strong expectation, not a hard exclusion criterion.
How to apply
Apply online through the Upper Austrian state e-government portal. Include an artistic CV, a detailed project description and reference materials such as photographs or catalogues. For the 2027 cycle the deadline is 3 February 2027. An expert panel selects recipients; the KUNSTSAMMLUNG then agrees your dates with you, taking reasonable timing preferences into account.
