Federation of Austrian Industry Carinthia - Excellence Grants of the Federation of Austrian Industry (IV) Carinthia

What You Get

This grant gives you EUR 10,000 to fund an outstanding study stay, research project, or scientific activity at a university or research centre abroad. The stay must last at least 6 months. The money is paid out in instalments: one part after a progress report at the 3-month mark, and the rest after a final report at 6 months.

Who Can Apply

• Nationality: You are an Austrian citizen.
• Age: You are 30 years old or younger at the application deadline.
• Regional link: You live in Carinthia (the Austrian state of Kärnten), have lived there for at least 5 years, or have a significant connection to Carinthia.
• Degree: You have already completed a bachelor's degree (from a university or a Fachhochschule — a university of applied sciences).
• Academic record: Your academic results are above average.
• Field of study: Your subject is in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics). Exceptional applications from other fields may also be considered if they are relevant to the Carinthian economy.
• Recommendations: At least two subject professors support your application in writing.
• Relevance: The results of your planned stay will be of value to the Carinthian economy.
• Timing: Your project or stay has not already started or been completed before you apply.

What to Submit

• Completed application form describing your planned research or study project (maximum 3 pages, in German)
• CV
• Copies of your exam transcripts and degree certificates
• Proof of the language skills needed for your stay
• At least two letters of recommendation from subject professors
• Confirmation of acceptance from the foreign university or research institution (or copies of your correspondence with them if acceptance is not yet confirmed)
• A financing plan, including details of any other funding you are receiving

Deadline

Applications must be submitted by 31 May. Check the official website for the current year's deadline.

Selection

An expert jury appointed by the Federation of Austrian Industry (IV) Carinthia and the Carinthian Economic Chamber decides who receives the grant. There is no legal right to receive it.
