About this award / prize

Premio Granada de Fondo a la Creacion Artistica

The main prize is 12,000 EUR for a single winning artwork. On top of that, there are up to 10 finalist prizes of 300 EUR each. Finalists get their work shown in a public exhibition at the Palacio de los Condes de Gabia in Granada. The winning piece becomes the property of the Diputacion de Granada (the provincial council) and joins its art collection, the 'Coleccion Granada de Fondo'. You also hand over the image rights to it for free. The award comes from the Diputacion de Granada, working with the Centro Jose Guerrero, to encourage contemporary visual and fine art.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: Any individual person can enter. You must not have won the main prize in an earlier edition. If you were a finalist before but did not win, you can enter again.
  • Age: You are at least 18 when the application deadline closes.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply. This is an international competition.
  • Where you live or study: No restriction on residence, degree or field of study.
  • Your artwork: Any form of visual or fine art counts: painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video and more. Any medium, any format, and you choose the subject freely. For reproducible work like photography, only a unique single copy is accepted. You can submit as many works as you like.

How to apply

You apply online only, through the electronic office (Sede Electronica) of the Diputacion de Granada. The deadline is 31 July 2026 at 12:00 noon, and late entries are not accepted. The jury first shortlists up to 11 finalists from your submitted photos and details. Finalists then deliver their actual works in September 2026, and the winner is announced at the exhibition opening in October 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an open international competition with only one 12,000 EUR main prize, so the top award is genuinely contested. A jury of contemporary-art specialists rates your creativity, originality and technique against everyone else. The 10 finalist prizes of 300 EUR and the public exhibition are a more attainable goal that also gives you visibility. A strong, distinctive body of work matters far more here than ticking eligibility boxes.
