About this award / prize
Benefit
A one-off cash prize is awarded for the best doctoral thesis (PhD) in the field of scientific psychology defended at a Belgian university. The amount of the prize is not disclosed. The Royal Academy of Sciences, Literature and Fine Arts of Belgium determines this from the income generated by the fund underpinning the prize. The prize was established in 1961 in memory of Albert Michotte van den Berck, a Belgian experimental psychologist, and is awarded every three years. The most recent laureate was honoured in May 2025 for the period 2022–2024.
