About this award / prize
Benefit
You receive a one-off research prize of 1,500 EUR for a doctoral thesis or 500 EUR for a master's thesis. The Élisée Legros Foundation at the University of Liège (ULiège) gives the award once a year. It alternates between the two types of work: one year it rewards a doctoral thesis, the next a master's thesis. Your work must cover one of these fields: the dialects of Wallonia, Walloon folklore, varieties of French spoken in Belgium, or Belgian place names and personal names.
Eligibility
- Your work: You submit a master's thesis or doctoral thesis on one of the fields above. If it was part of a university exam, you can only enter it after the academic jury has given its verdict.
- Timing: You got your degree less than seven years ago.
- University: You can have done your work at ULiège or at any other university in Belgium or abroad.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
You apply through an online form by 31 July. You submit a motivation letter, a detailed CV listing your degrees and any publications or talks, a recommendation letter from a professor who taught you, and your work as a PDF. A selection committee of professors from Belgian universities reviews all entries and picks the winner.
