About this scholarship

Prince Albert Fund Grant

You will receive a tax-free grant of 27,500 EUR to carry out a 12-month business project abroad for a Belgian company of your choice. The grant covers your own living expenses. The company you are working with will cover your flights, accommodation and any costs associated with the project. You will spend at least 11 of the 12 months outside Europe, as well as up to one month beforehand at the Belgian company’s head office. This is a genuine assignment in which you will build something for the company; it is not an internship. Before you leave, you will receive leadership training and coaching. You can choose your project and your country from among the partner companies or from your own contacts. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the title ‘Prince Albert Fund Laureate’. Around 30 scholarships are awarded each year. The fund was established in 1984, and the King Baudouin Foundation processes the applications.

Who can apply

  • Nationality or residence: You are a Belgian national or have lived in Belgium for at least 5 years out of the last 10 years.
  • Degree: You have a Master’s degree.
  • Field of study: Any subject. Past grant-holders studied business, law, engineering, architecture, languages, science and more.
  • Age: On 1 January 2027, you are no older than 30, so you were born on or after 1 January 1997.
  • Work experience: By September 2027, you will have at least two years’ professional experience. Work placements lasting at least three months will be taken into account.
  • Language: You speak English fluently. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.
  • Your company: The company for which you are carrying out the project must not be your current employer.

How to apply

You must apply online via the King Baudouin Foundation’s platform by 7 January 2027. You will need to complete a written application form and attach a short video. If you are shortlisted, a jury will select 75 candidates in March. The shortlist will then be narrowed down to the final 30 candidates during a live interview in Brussels. The interview consists of a 60-minute business case and a 25-minute presentation.

How realistic are your chances?

Every year, around 300 people apply, and approximately 30 scholarships are awarded, meaning that around one in ten applicants is successful. From the pool of applicants, 75 people are invited to Brussels for an interview.
