About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive a one-off grant of up to 20,000 DKK (about 2,680 EUR). This is generally intended to support a study-related stay abroad, such as an exchange programme, an internship or a research placement at a foreign university. Each year, the fund awards a total of approximately 40,000 to 60,000 DKK, divided into two or three grants, depending on the decision of the board. The money comes from the ‘Sønderborg Statsskoles Legatfond’, a scholarship fund administered by Sønderborg Statsskole, a state upper secondary school in southern Denmark.

Eligibility

  • Your school: You have completed upper secondary education (Studentereksamen) at Sønderborg Statsskole.
  • Current studies: You are currently studying at a university or another higher education institution.
  • How far along: You have been studying for at least 2 years.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Financial need: Priority is given to students who need the money. The committee takes into account both your academic performance and your financial circumstances.
  • What it is for: The scholarship is primarily intended to fund a study-related stay abroad.

How to apply

Apply by 1 March each year, either by email or by post. Please enclose a personal statement describing your educational background to date and your financial situation, as well as a copy of your leaving certificate from Sønderborg Statsskole and a summary of your current grades. Applications with missing documents will not be considered. All applicants will receive a response by the end of May, and the scholarships will be presented in person at a ceremony held at the school.
