About this scholarship

Hans Tausens Fond scholarship

You will receive a one-off grant of up to 100,000 DKK (approximately 13,000 EUR) per funding area. The Hans Tausens Fund is administered by the Faculty of Theology at the University of Copenhagen and awards its grants once a year. The money is intended to support theology students in the final stages of their degree. It also covers study grants, travel allowances and book costs for vicars and theology graduates who wish to apply for a vicarage. If you receive a travel grant, you are expected to share your impressions of church life in the places you have visited.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You are a Master's (kandidat) student of theology in the final phase of your degree, or a pastor or theology graduate who plans to apply for a parish post.
  • Subject: Theology. If you are a pastor or a graduate, your application must include a clear theological study objective.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Financial need: Not required for book and travel grants. Parish households facing hardship due to illness or other reasons may also receive support.
  • Not eligible: PhD students.

How to apply

Apply online, once a year. Students fill in the fund's application form and attach a one-page motivation letter. Pastors and theology graduates apply without the form. For a travel grant give a travel budget. For a book grant give a priced book list. Add your contact details and a bank account number. The fund does not publish a fixed deadline online. It points applicants to notices at the Faculty of Theology, at theology in Aarhus, and in the Pastors' Association journal.
