About this scholarship

The Fuhrmann Foundation grant

You will receive a one-off grant of approximately 2,480 EUR (18,500 DKK) to fund a research stay abroad in the field of molecular biology. The grant is awarded by the Fuhrmann Foundation (Fuhrmann-Fonden) and administered by the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). It is intended to promote basic research in the field of molecular biology, including the molecular biology of the nervous system. The grant covers the costs of your research trip, but not those of conference travel.

Who can apply

  • Where you study or work: You must be a member of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at SDU in Odense. This is the only mandatory requirement.
  • Level: PhD students and postdoctoral researchers will be given preference, although this is not a requirement. Master’s students who are writing their dissertation within the department on a project agreed with a supervisor may also apply.
  • Field: You are involved in basic research in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedicine or bioinformatics.
  • What the grant is for: You are planning a research visit abroad or are a visiting researcher from abroad at the SDU Institute.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You apply through the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at SDU, which announces the call internally. The foundation's board sets the deadline each year in February. Only successful applicants are notified.
