About this scholarship
AAU Internationalisation Pool
You will receive a one-off grant to cover the additional costs of studying or undertaking an internship abroad. The amount of the grant varies from round to round, as it is divided amongst all eligible applicants. It amounts to approximately 7,000 DKK (about 1,000 EUR) for a stay within Europe and approximately 9,000 DKK (about 1,400 EUR) for a stay outside Europe. You will receive the grant as a one-off payment shortly before your departure. The funding comes from Aalborg University (AAU), with a large proportion donated by the ‘Det Obelske Familiefond’ foundation. Your stay abroad can last between 3 and 12 months. The grant must not be used to pay tuition fees.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled full time at Aalborg University, at Bachelor, Master or Diploma level. Danish and international AAU students apply on equal terms.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Where you go: You are travelling abroad as part of an AAU exchange agreement or for a project-based degree programme or work placement. Stays within Denmark are not eligible for funding.
- Timing: Priority will be given to students who have already completed at least two years of their degree programme.
- No double funding: You must not currently be receiving an Erasmus Mundus, Erasmus+ or Nordplus scholarship, nor be taking part in an SDC (Sino-Danish Centre) programme.
- Home country: If you are an international student returning to your home country, you will only receive financial support if there are still funds available.
How to apply
There is no separate form. When you apply for your semester abroad via the AAU’s online system (exchangeapplications.aau.dk), you are also applying for this scholarship at the same time. Apply by 1 March for a term in the autumn, or by 1 November for a term in the spring.
If you are considering other ways to fund your time abroad, our guide Scholarships in Denmark brings together further scholarships and funding opportunities in Denmark.
