About this scholarship

What the Erasmus+ grant at Aalborg University gives you

You will receive 500 EUR per month to study for 2 to 12 months at one of around 350 partner universities across Europe. The exchange will count towards your degree at Aalborg University, so you will not lose any study time and will not have to pay tuition fees at the partner university. If you have a disability, a chronic illness, care responsibilities or military service obligations, you may be eligible for a supplement of 250 EUR per month top-up, as well as additional funding for exceptional disability-related costs. Free online language tests and language courses are also available to you before and during your stay. The funding comes from the EU and is administered by Aalborg University’s International Office and the Danish Erasmus+ Agency.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at Aalborg University (AAU) in Denmark.
  • Where you go: You are studying at a European partner university which has signed an Erasmus+ agreement with the AAU for your degree programme.
  • Field of study: All participants are eligible to take part.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they are studying at the AAU.
  • Timing: You must have completed at least your first year of study before the start of your stay.
  • Recognition: Your degree programme committee will approve your period of study abroad as part of your degree in advance, and you will complete a digital Erasmus Learning Agreement, which sets out the courses you will be taking whilst abroad.

How to apply

Search the online directory of exchange agreements for a partner university that matches your degree programme. You should then apply via the AAU’s ‘Mobility Online’ system. Funding will be applied for automatically as part of your exchange application. The application deadline is 1 March for the autumn semester and 1 November for the spring semester. Late applications may still be considered, provided funding is available.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competition prize, but a standard EU scholarship linked to an exchange place. If you are an AAU student who meets the eligibility criteria and secures a place under an existing agreement, you will receive this funding. The biggest hurdle is finding a partner university with an agreement for your degree programme and obtaining prior approval from your academic committee. Please apply by the deadline, as late applications are subject to funding availability.
