About this scholarship
The Rebild Foundation scholarship
You receive a one-off grant to help pay for at least one semester of university study abroad. The amount is set each year. In 2025 it was 20,000 DKK per person (about 2,700 EUR). In earlier years it ranged from 10,000 DKK (about 1,340 EUR) up to 25,000 DKK (about 3,350 EUR). Usually 5 to 8 scholarships are awarded per year. You cannot ask for a specific sum. Instead you submit a full budget for your stay and the foundation decides. The grant comes from the Rebild Foundation, run by the Rebild National Park Society, a Danish-American friendship organisation that supports study exchange between the two countries. Winners are named publicly on 4 July at the Rebild celebration in the Rebild Hills.
Who can apply
- Who you are and where you go: You are a Danish student going to study in the USA, or an American student going to study in Denmark. Only these two directions are funded.
- Level: You study at university level.
- Length of stay: Your stay abroad lasts at least one full semester. Internships, summer schools and high-school exchanges do not count.
- Enrolment: You can prove you are enrolled at both your home university and your host university abroad.
- Field of study: Any subject.
How to apply
Fill in the application form from the foundation's website. Send it by email as one single document, together with a motivation letter, CV, portrait photo, budget and proof of enrolment. The deadline is 1 April at 9:00 each year, for the following academic year. Late applications are not considered. Only selected applicants are told; there is no rejection letter.
