AUIP/Autonomous Community of Castile and León - AUIP Master Scholarships for study in Castile and León

What you get

You will receive up to 7,000 EUR for a one-year Master’s programme at a state university in Castile and León, Spain. The funding comprises three components: your international return flight (up to 1,200 EUR), the tuition fees for a Master’s programme comprising 60 credit points, including administrative fees, and a living allowance of 400 EUR per month for up to 10 months (up to 4,000 EUR). The total amount is capped at 7,000 EUR. Should the costs of the flight and tuition fees be high, the living allowance will be reduced to ensure the upper limit is not exceeded. The regional government (Junta de Castilla y León) funds the scholarship, and the AUIP (an association of Latin American and Spanish universities) administers it.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You take an official, in-person Master's degree at one of the four public universities of Castile and León: Burgos, León, Salamanca or Valladolid.
• Where you live now: You are living in a Latin American country at the time of applying.
• Your link to the region: You are either a Spanish national resident in a municipality in Castile and León, or a descendant of people from Castile or León who can prove this ancestry and hold a valid Spanish entry and residence visa.
• Your degree: You already hold a first degree which entitles you to enrol on a Master’s programme. Preference will be given to applicants whose first degree is relevant to their chosen Master’s programme.
• Admission: You must have been admitted to your chosen master’s programme. The scholarship will only be paid out once your admission has been confirmed.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• First time: You have not yet received this scholarship.

How to apply

You apply online via the AUIP application portal, listing up to three Master’s programmes in order of preference. The application deadline is 31 August at 23:59 Madrid time. A joint committee comprising representatives from the regional government and the AUIP will review the applications and notify applicants by email.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. Applicants must live in Latin America, demonstrate a connection to Castile and León, and have been admitted to a Master’s programme at one of four specified universities. As a result, the pool of applicants remains small. With 15 places available in the latest allocation round, anyone who clearly meets these conditions and can demonstrate their regional ties has good prospects. A bachelor’s degree that is relevant to the chosen Master’s programme will improve your chances.
